Georgia Tech Lorraine
Georgia Tech Lorraine (GTL), Georgia Tech's platform into Europe is a non-profit corporation operating under French law. It is located in Metz, France, close to Germany, Belgium, and Luxembourg. Its activities are divided into three main areas:
- Education, with year-around graduate and undergraduate degree programs offered in electrical and computer engineering, in mechanical engineering, and in computer science. The campus offers a vibrant summer program for undergraduate students, with courses from all Colleges of the Institute. Several double degree programs leading to the Master of Science from the Georgia Institute of Technology and French or European degrees from carefully selected engineering institutions are also available at Georgia Tech Lorraine.
- Sponsored research, with programs directed toward specific opportunities in the European community. Such activity has lead to the creation of an international research laboratory, Georgia Tech—CNRS UMI 2958, between the Centre National de la Recherche Scientifique (CNRS) and Georgia Tech (Atlanta and Metz campus). The main thrusts of research of this laboratory are in the areas of secure telecommunications and advanced materials. At GTL, doctoral students and postdoctoral fellows have access to state-of-the-art laboratories in key technology areas.
- Local economic development under the agreement between the State of Georgia and the Region of Lorraine, in particular through technology transfer.
